To avoid fire accidents in government buildings, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal chaired a meeting regarding fire safety audit and asked officers to ensure that government buildings of all state meets all fire safety standards within the next three months. Kaushal also ordered officers to conduct a special fire safety audit at movie theaters, multiplexes and universities in the state.
“During the meeting, the Chief Secretary was informed that Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal, Al-Falah Medical College, Faridabad, Dhauj, ESIC, Faridabad, Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha, Hisar, Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mulana , Ambala, NC Medical Colleges & Hospitals, Israna, Panipat and Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College, Nalhar, Mewat have fully adhered to fire safety standards and NOCs have been issued thereafter,” a spokesperson from the government.
Apart from them, certification was also issued to the operation theatre, trauma center and auditorium buildings of PGIMS, Rohtak for compliance with fire safety standards. The remaining blocks will also receive NOCs soon. The private university SGT University in Gurugram, Budheda also received the NOC. Overall, 10 of the state’s 13 medical colleges/institutions are fully equipped in accordance with fire safety standards, the others will meet the requirement soon, the government spokesperson said.
There are 28 civilian hospitals in Haryana, of which fire safety standards have been implemented in most of them. “However, in some hospitals, the Notice of Compliance was not issued as they did not meet the stipulated criteria. The Chief Secretary has requested hospitals to implement the standards by September relentlessly,” said said the spokesperson.
The general secretary also asked to prepare a detailed list of changes to be made in district prisons and an action plan soon after meeting with relevant departments.
Kaushal also instructed officers to ensure that Market Committee buildings install fire safety devices by November 30. The time limit also applies to the buildings of small secretariats, municipal corporations, committees and municipalities.
