ABILENE, Texas (September 18, 2021) – In what may well be their longest race of the year, the Lubbock Christian women’s cross country team competed in the Naimadu Classic on Saturday morning, taking fifth place as a team.

The course the women raced in Abilene was just over 4 miles, a distance they won’t run this season until the NCAA Division II Nationals in November. The 11 Lady Chap athletes competing averaged 25:13 in the race for a total of 143 points.

“The group we took on worked really well”, track and cross-country director Nick strings noted. “We are delighted to be reuniting with two more of our athletes in the coming weeks as this team really has the potential to be competitive in the conference competition.”

Ayse Allison led the Lady Chaps for the second straight meeting, placing 24e individually with a time of 24:30. 4. Madelyn Merrell also finished in the top 30, placing 26e with a time of 24: 41.7.

Sky Sena crossed the finish line in 25: 16.7 to place 32ndsd, and Chloe Trull finished with a time of 25: 33.9 to place 37e. The last three Lady Chaps to score points have been Jorie Fleischmen , Sydnei Orozco and Hailey Lowery. Fleischmen finished with a time of 26: 05.9 to finish 41st, Orzoco placed 48e with a time of 26: 26.8 and Lowery ranked 50e with a time of 26: 36.6.
