SHERMAN – Beloved Vicki J. (Cole) Ayers, 70, of Sherman, NY, went to join her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 16, 2022.
She was born February 19, 1952 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late William and Elaine Smith Cole.
Vicki graduated in 1970 from Sherman Central School and attended college at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. She worked as a home health aide for many years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sherman, where she served on the missionary committee, library committee, served as a Sunday school teacher, nursery attendant, AWANA leader, and teacher in the days of release.
She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and attending Bible studies. She was also a longtime scorer for Sherman High School basketball games and was the number one fan at her grandchildren’s sporting events. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Vicki is survived by her beloved husband, Terry Lee Ayers, whom she married September 3, 1971 at Sherman First Baptist Church; two children; Kristina Christmas of Sherman, NY, and Kirk (Amanda) Ayers of Corry, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren: Katrina Christmas, Korey Ayers, Sabrina Christmas, Kamron Ayers, Khloie Ayers, Kegan Ayers and Karagan Ayers; four siblings: Kim (Gayle) Cole of Sherman, NY, Debbie (Steve) Tower of North East, Pennsylvania, Kevin Cole of Sherman, NY, and Todd (Kim) Cole of Sherman, NY; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one son, David Scott Ayers; his parents; William and Elaine Smith Cole; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Cole.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Sherman’s First Baptist Church (113 Church St, Sherman, NY 14781) and funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. September 21, 2022, also at the church. Reverend Timothy Minge and Reverend Paul Sears will officiate. Interment will be in Sherman Cemetery.
